There are moments in life when a thought, a dream, or a calling settles in your heart..and it’s not just any idea. It’s one that comes with weight, clarity, and peace. It doesn’t shout, but it speaks. It lingers. You can’t shake it. You might even try, but it stays there. That’s often how God speaks to us. He places something on our hearts so intentionally that we can’t ignore it.
But here’s the challenge: what God places on your heart doesn’t always come to pass right away. And when it doesn’t the waiting room becomes the battleground. Doubt creeps in. We begin to question if we heard God correctly. We wonder if the vision was just a good idea or a God idea.
One of the most humbling lessons in walking with God is accepting that His timing rarely looks like ours. We live in a culture of instant gratification, but God works through seasons, processes, and preparation. When He puts something on your heart, it’s because He sees not only what will be, but also what He must do in you first. I can think of many people in the Bible that can attest to that statement. David was anointed king as a teenager—but it took years of him running, hiding, and waiting before he wore the crown. Joseph dreamed of leadership but spent time in a pit and prison before stepping into the palace. Delay is not denial. It’s often development.
When God speaks to you—whether through a word, a conviction, or a persistent pull, it’s not casual. He’s trusting you with something sacred. Ignoring it because of fear, confusion, or impatience can mean missing a divine assignment. I’ve personally been there. There have been times when God has told me to move on something and because of those above mentioned emotions I ended up swallowed in the belly of a whale on a journey that I prolonged my destination. I urge you to take heed to what God assigns to you.
Taking heed means nurturing what He’s shown you, even if it doesn’t make sense..yet. It means preparing for it, praying for it and into it, and being obedient even when you don’t see the full picture. Faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does.
I’m not sure who’s reading this currently, I don’t even know exactly what you’re going through but I do know that there is an expected end that you can look forward to. The fact that what you’ve been praying for and stewarding hasn’t come to pass yet does not mean it won’t. It just means He’s still working. Don’t give up in the midst of the silence. Don’t dismiss the dream/vision because of the delay. What God has whispered in the quiet, He will shout from the rooftop…in due time. Keep believing. Keep preparing. Keep trusting. Because if God said it, it will come to pass.
