There is a deep, unspoken ache that only a mother can know. A wound that forms when you realize you couldn’t protect your child from pain. The moment it happens it feels like the petals of your motherhood fall to the ground, crushed beneath the weight of guilt, fear, and heartbreak. You replay every moment. What could I have done differently? Where did I go wrong? Why didn’t I see it? I’ve been there………
I’ve sat in the quiet hour of the night, heartbroken, asking God why. Why did You let this happen to my child? I prayed, watched, loved, taught, and warned—why was it not enough? This is where the enemy whispered the most painful lie he ever has: You failed as a mother
It has taken me a while to get to this point of knowing that I am not a failure. I am human. And even more importantly, I am not God. As mom we can sometimes get a god-like complex with our children, but the truth is we cannot be everywhere. We cannot see everything. We cannot stop every storm and that is exactly why we need Jesus.
After 7 almost 8 years in I can say that I’ve learned that motherhood is not about perfect protection—it’s about pointing our children to the One who never fails. The One who holds their hearts when ours break. The one who redeems what we cannot fix. Romans 8:28 tells us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” that includes the unthinkable, the unbearable, the moments that seem beyond repair. God doesn’t cause trauma, but He is a master healer. He is the restorer of shattered innocence, the One who can bring beauty from ashes.

If you’re a mama and grieving the pain your child has endured whther it was a moment you couldn’t stop or a season you couldn’t see coming—let me whisper this to your heart as I had to whisper to my own: God is not finished. Your child’s story is not over and neither is yours. You are still the chosen mama for your child. You are still the Elegant Rose God planted in their life to show them love, strength, and faith. Even broken roses still carry beauty. Even wounded hearts can lead others to the Healer.
I encourage you to cry when you need to. Mourn what was. But don’t stay in that place. Stand up in grace.
Jesus is walking with you and he’s walking with your child too.
You may feel like you failed—but God sees a mother who continues to fight, prays, and loves with all her heart and that love, is never failure.
Side note: I am still advocating for children’s rights, specifically concerning Indiana Parenting Time Guidelines because that is the one I am familiar with. If you would like to be a part of this fight please feel free to comment or message me for more information. I’ve got a project in the works that I’m excited to share soon—it’ll dive deeper in this cause. I thank you for taking time out of your day to read my posts. I pray you leave feeling blessed and uplifted with a word of encouragement.
This healed me in so many ways. Thank you for sharing.
To God be the glory…I’m glad this helped.
